"Maïa" for flute and harp was written for and is dedicated to the French duo of Anne Ricquebourg, harpist and Christophe Brandon, flutist. In Greek mythology,

Maïa was the eldest of the Pleiades and one of Zeus's numerous conquests. She was the mother of Hermes, who is credited with inventing both the lyre and the flute. Considered to be a "Spring" godess, her name is the inspiration for the month of May. She was worshiped in ceremonies of rebirth during the Spring.

The work is written in a moto perpetuoso style with much interplace between the two instruments. A lyrical openning section is followed by a more mysterious minor passage which uses a two note "rocking" motif. The initial material comes back in ornamented form and a short coda combining the two elements closes the work

"Maïa" pour flûte et harpe est écrite pour le duo de Anee Ricquebourg, Harpe et Christophoe Brandon, flûte.

Dans la mythology grecque, Maîa est l'ainée des Pleïades et une des nombreuses conquêtes de Zeus. Elle est également la mère d'Hérmes, inventeur de la lyre et egalement de la flûte. Consideré comme une déesse du printemps, son nom est immortalisé dans le mois de "mai". Sa culte était principalement les cérémonies de rennaisance pendant le printemps.

L'oeuvre est en forme d'un "moto perpetuoso" avec beaucoup d'interchanges entre les deux instruments. Une première thème plutôt lyrique et suivi par une deuxième thème en mineur centré sur un motif "berçant" de deux notes. La première thême revient ornamentée et amène une brève coda qui utilise les deux thèmes.
