Stanislas Verroust (1814-1863)
Biography
Stanislas Verroust was born on May 10, 1814 at Hazebrouck, France and died on April 11, 1863 also at Hazebrouck. In 1831, he began his career as a violinist in the orchestra of the Palais Royal Theatre in Paris, whil e he studied the oboe at the Paris Conservatory with Gustave Vogt. He received his Frize in Oboe in 1834. In 1839, he became oboist with the Paris Opera Orchestra. During the 1840s, he entered military service serving for several military bands. In 1853, he became the oboe teacher at the Imperial Conservatory as well as the first oboe of the Paris Opera. Wellknown for his compositions, which number almost 90 opus numbers (some of which have been lost), he often performed with his brother who played the bassoon.
.Stanislas Verroust est né le 10 mai, 1814 à Hazebrouck et mort le 11 avril, 1863, également à Hazebrouck. En 1831, il commence sa carrière en étant violoniste dans l’orchestre du théâtre du Palais-Royal pendant qu’il étudie l’hautbois au Conservatoire de Paris avec Gustave Vogt. Il obtient son Premier Prix en 1834. En 1839, he entre dans l’Orchestre de L’Opéra. Pendant les années 1840s, il entre dans l’armée, servant de chef pour plusieurs formations. En 1853, il devient le professeur d’hautbois au Conservatoire Impérial et l’hautbois solo à L’Orchestre de L’Opéra. Très connu pour ses compositions (avec presque 90 numéros d’opus à son actif), il donne beaucoup de concerts, parfois en compagnie de son frère qui est bassoniste.
